About sponsorship

The Food Innovation Network (FIN) has secured a number of organisations willing to provide in-kind or cash matching support of the award. More sponsorship opportunities are still up for grabs if you would like to sponsor/collaborate with a winning SME. Entries for sponsorship are open up to 31st January 2018.

The FIN will fund up to 50% of the project cost (with a maximum grant of £5,000 per project) with the remainder match-funded through one of the following match-funding mechanisms:

  • Company X providing £5,000 in-kind support
  • Company Y providing £5,000 cash
  • Company A wishes to use a service provided by Company Z (as put forward by the FIN) to the value of £5,000.

The FIN is the delivery team for the government-led initiative of the AgriFood Tech Council aimed at driving productivity in the UK. We want to support early stage SMEs access the resources they need to springboard their business – resources they may not have the finances to cover or simply are unaware they can benefit from. The competition is a two-stage process: SMEs will submit a video pitch and an accompanying simple text, which will be assessed by a panel of sector experts and industry leaders. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to give an oral pitch in a Dragon’s Den-style event in March 2018. The prize is up to a £10k voucher up to £5k of which will be paid to the SME; the remaining will be matched by yourself through in-kind services, cash or other service/product (see list below). This means that you will be that resource the SMEs will be pitching for. However, there will be other companies like yours supporting this scheme and the winning SME will choose which company to work with. Therefore it will be in your interest to make your offer as attractive as possible.

What benefit do I gain from sponsoring?

Being a sponsor of this scheme will undoubtedly raise the profile of your company. Your logo will be widely distributed at the pitching event venue and FIN website – even if you are not chosen by the winning SME. If you are chosen, the output from the collaboration will be disseminated widely through the winning SME, FIN and KTN community (reaching a potential 1 million people).
